Last Month
Welcome to a new year and to the first monthly progress update! So far, 2024 hasn’t been too kind with lots of being ill (both Meowerlords and humans) and some administrative, boring, behind-the-scenes things needing to be organised. There also was a week-long trip for non-Meowerlord work and some new games to investigate. Not much to see here, move along! 😐️

So apparently Google doesn’t appreciate inactive developer accounts, and since I have been taking some time off of developing games, they want to close it unless an update or app is published within the next few weeks. I am taking this as an excuse to try and develop a quick and silly darts score counter app to sort this out first. Bets on the account surviving can be placed in the Discord 😆️
Why darts, you might say? Darts is a surprising amount of fun, even if you are shit at it! But keeping track of the scores can be a bit complicated, with lots of mental arithmetic nobody wants to do when drunk. Which… it’s darts, nobody is surprised, right? OK. Cheers! 🍻️
The first version will be basic and likely incomplete, but feedback is most welcome once it’s available! You will need an actual dart board to play, but once complete, it should support some single player practise challenges if you can’t find a fellow human.

In other news, this website just perpetually needs an update and re-work. So does the Meowerlord logo. And coding is usually more fun, so nothing tends to happen. Maybe the cycle can be broken this month?
➡️ Port/update old game code for Godot 4
Last on the list, we finally get to some actual gamedev! My games were made using Godot 3, and now that Godot 4 is out with shiny new features, they could really use some updates. With some love and refactoring, I hope that the old game code can be made more reusable. This should speed up making even more games 🙂
Not the most impressive update, but it’s a start 🙂 have a great February and see you next month!
