As the year ends, I finally find more time to look at the Meowerlord projects and get confused by what it all means. Everything that has been out of the mind for a few weeks might as well have been written by someone else, this is known.
I looked at the state of Count Dartula and have not been too pleased. There are some things that need a re-design, much stuff that deserves cleanups and documentation, and maybe even the translation to German I was too lazy to do before.
Another pressing issue is the update of the Godot version. The Playstore has been complaining about an outdated API level for ages. I am procrastinating on that until new hardware arrives, because large build jobs are a lot to handle for my poor laptop.
On a personal note, our resident senior Meowerlords have now both arrived at the age of permanent medication and regular vet trips. They are doing very well, but require some extra care – hopefully for a very long time!
Next Month
A conservative list for getting back into the routine – apologies to everyone hoping for visible new features or a Count Dartula update!
➡️ Default Android UI theme
While playing around with the new prototype version of Count Dartula, I noticed a load of annoying, repetitive UI work that crops up every time a new Android project starts. I think this can be solved way better by extending the Meowerlord framework a bit!
➡️ Default desktop UI theme
If a project is not designed for phones, the UI should still be easier to work with for my “usual” requirements, and switching a project between phone and PC designs should be trivial.
➡️ Clean up documentation
The default app framework has grown over time, and returning to it after a long break has reminded me that good documentation is important. Wasting time on figuring out where to find what sucks, and doesn’t get new features done.
➡️ Finish the Meowerlord office
Another thing that will bore everyone but me – new furniture and hardware will arrive soon and has to be set up 🥳️ I can’t wait for it all to get here, this will be so much fun. The hope is that long, computation-heavy work will speed up significantly, and I have a cool environment to do it in as well.
➡️ Celebrate Christmas!
Finally, Christmas is getting close, with all the family time and mountains of food that come with it. I hope everyone is able to enjoy the winter break and relax, whether you celebrate or not! All the new year’s resolutions can still wait.
